Leading human resources

Leadership is hard, it’s hard to know what’s wrong and what’s right, is there any wrong or right, we think that everything can be right if it fits the situation and the people in it. We don´t think that everyone can be a leader, some people just don´t fit to the role, don´t have the powerful personality that´s needed.  Although you are born with the right personality to be a good leader you still have a long way to go before you become a great leader. It’s a lot of things you have to know about yourself and about the peoples who you are going to lead before you can lead the group in right direction.

The personality of a leader is today more important than the competence that he possess. It´s important that a leader can push, inspire, motivate and be a good model for the employees. A good leader is a leader that gives the employees goals. The leader should also make sure that there is a good working environment. He should make the people feel involved in discussions and decision making and give them responsibility to make own decisions and come up with new ideas so they can develop as individuals. Communication is another thing that a leader should manage and even if the leader have to be good at communication he also have to be a good listener.

Challenges in leading a generation y person

  • The Generation Y easily gets bored if they don´t have variation in their work tasks, which can be challenging for an older manager to understand. The generation Y employee wants challenges in his work.
  • It´s important to keep the generation Y employee happy with his work because he always keeps his options open. If he gets bored ha easily changes work place.
  • The generation Y talks a lot with other people with the help of social media for example so it´s good to treat the generation Y employee good because otherwise the employee will probably express himself in a way that many people see and that’s not good for the company´s welfare.
  • The generation Y needs structure; they need to know what they should do and when they should do what. They are used to have a schedule that is full with activities.
  • The generation Y questions everything and wants to explore new ways to do things. This can be a problem if the manager is old-fashioned and isn’t open for change.

Developing human resources

Here you can see an overwiev picture of the topic.

Training and development

Training is an educational process of strategic applied in an organized and systemic, in which employees acquire and develop specific knowledge and skills relating to work and adjust their attitudes to the tasks of the organization, the job or workplace
Appraising and improving performance

The evaluation of work performance of employees is a technical process through which, in a comprehensive, systematic and continuous conducted by direct supervisors, we have evaluated the set of attitudes, job performance and behavior of the employee in the performance of charge and discharge of its functions, in terms of timeliness, quantity and quality of services produced.

Learning and development
A planned effort that covers the organization and increases the effectiveness and health of the organization through deliberate intervention in the processes of the organization using the knowledge of the behavioral sciences.
This is the organization to learn a system and can be a hallmark of doing things with excellence from its own processes. There must be a continuous improvement, effective to operate and respond to change.
The organization is called to promote adaptive learning and generative learning simultaneously. The first looks to the organization to adapt to current realities. The second looks at the organization as an entity that must adapt a strategy to change the reality. In any case, the learning process conceives the organization as a Darwinian reality.

Rewards and benefits

We have made a rewards and benefits package for a small company with few employees, but their turnover is about 2 million per year. When we started with this task, we wanted to make a package that would fit for most employees, because it is hard to please everyone, there are various equivalent benefits to those who do not enjoy the advantages we offer. In our package have we put in that kind of stuff that we think would be great benefits especially for generation y.

For genenration Y is it important that they can develope themselves all he time and with this package with development discussion and compensations disussions th employees get that opportunity. The package is attractive because everyone wants flexible work hours today. This makes it easier to get the work to fit your private life. Social activities, theme days and common coffee breaks are important because that helps to create a good atmosphere and a “we” feeling at the company. Personal gifts when you have performed well are motivating and this makes you feel special and appreciated and this makes you perform even better.

Our rewards and benefits package looks like this:

Teamwork

The teamprocess

Every team goes through a process at least once.  This process contains four stages: forming, storming, norming and performing.

The forming stage is about the introduction of the team members and the team members to get to know each other and the other member’s personalities and skills. This is a stage of transition from a group of individual people to a team.

As the members get to know each other and grows as a group they will likely go to the next stage that is storming. The members will have different opinions about how the team should operate and who will take which role. There will be many conflicts in this stage that has to me solved before the team can move over to the next stage. A good team will find solutions to the conflict and then be able to move forward. This is a very difficult stage to be in and is all about communication and coming up with compromises.

After solving the conflict the team can move forward to the next stage that is norming. They have found the working method that works for every member in the team and everyone is willing to share their skills in the team. Everyone gets to say their opinion and the work is moving forward. Cooperation and collaboration replace the conflict and mistrust of the previous phase.

The last stage that the team will enter is performing. Every teammate is working to reach the team goals. Relationships are settled, and team members are likely to build loyalty towards each other. The team can manage more complex and challenging tasks and succeed with what they are doing.

A team can go through this process several times during their work. If new teammates arrive then the team will probably go back to the first stage and start the process all over again or if a person changes then the group has to start again the forming process.
4 things to consider when working in a team

  • Teamwork is a good way of working that fits in the society today.
  • Think before you choose the team leader, he may have a central role if the team will succeed or fail.
  • Reward the team as a whole and not individuals.
  • A team has a specific purpose, which makes it esier to work in a team because everybody has the common goal. This also makes it esier to in the end measure the performance
